**Privacy at the product level.**
Ordinary recordings and project files are designed to remain on your device. Material leaves your
device when you choose a connected feature—such as license activation, an AI provider, or YouTube
publishing—or when a technical service must process a request you initiate.
## 1. Scope and responsible operator
This Policy applies to Screlio’s public website, desktop software, license services, account
interactions, and optional connected features. It should be read with our
[Terms and Conditions](https://screlio.com/terms-and-conditions-ae-screlio/).
The entity responsible for your paid relationship is identified as the seller or merchant on your
purchase receipt and in the
[account portal](https://account.screlio.com). Because the applicable
seller may depend on the transaction, that purchase information identifies the responsible
contracting entity and available privacy contact for your account.
## 2. Privacy at a glance
- Marketing pages do not currently include an advertising or behavioral analytics integration.
- Projects, source recordings, and ordinary edits are designed to stay on your device.
- License activation communicates with the licensing service using license and device-related details.
- Local transcription can process speech on your device without sending that audio to a cloud transcription service.
- Optional AI features send only the material needed for the request you initiate to the provider you select.
- YouTube publishing sends your chosen export and metadata to Google after you connect your account and confirm the upload.
## 3. Information Screlio handles
### Website and hosting information
When you visit the website, hosting and network providers may process standard request data such
as IP address, browser and device type, requested page, timestamps, referring page, and security
events. This information supports delivery, reliability, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting.
### Purchase, account, and license information
Purchase and account systems may handle contact details, transaction details, plan status,
receipts, tax information, and support history. Payment-card details are handled by the checkout
or payment provider identified during purchase rather than by the static marketing pages.
The desktop app stores a license key locally and may send the key, an installation or site
identifier, and activation or status information to the licensing service to validate, activate,
or deactivate access. License information may also be associated with the account shown in the
account portal.
### Support and legal communications
If you contact the seller or support team, they may process the information you provide, relevant
account and license details, attachments, and the history needed to answer the request.
## 4. Local projects, recordings, and preferences
Depending on the features you use, Screlio can process screen recordings, microphone and system
audio, camera video, screenshots, imported files, captions, scripts, timeline edits, cursor
movement, click information, and optional keystroke-display data. Project settings and interface
preferences may also be stored on your device.
This material is used locally to record, preview, edit, render, save, and export your work. It is
not automatically uploaded merely because you create or open a project. You decide where project
files and exports are stored and are responsible for device permissions, backups, deletion, and
access by other users of the device.
Screlio includes an on-device speech-transcription option. When that option is used, source audio
is processed locally by the installed transcription runtime. A separate connected feature may
still transmit text, audio, frames, or other material if you deliberately invoke that feature.
## 5. Optional AI and publishing services
### OpenAI, Google Gemini, and Cartesia
You may configure your own provider credentials for optional AI writing, planning, translation,
image, audio, or voice features. Provider credentials are stored in the desktop app’s local user
data. Screlio sends a credential and the relevant request directly to the selected provider only
when you test the connection or invoke that provider.
Depending on your chosen action, the request may include prompts, scripts, transcript text,
screenshots, selected video frames, reference images, audio, language settings, or other context
needed to generate the requested result. The provider then processes that information under its
own terms and privacy policy.
### YouTube
If you connect YouTube, Google manages the sign-in and consent process. Screlio requests
permission to upload videos and may process OAuth configuration, access and refresh tokens, upload
status, your selected video, title, description, tags, audience selection, and privacy setting.
Refresh tokens are protected with operating-system encryption when that protection is available.
Screlio sends the export and metadata to YouTube only after you start publishing. Google’s terms,
privacy policy, account controls, and deletion tools apply to information in your Google or
YouTube account.
## 6. Why information is used
Information is processed as reasonably necessary to:
- deliver the website, desktop software, requested editing functions, and exports;
- complete purchases, issue receipts, administer plans, and validate licenses;
- connect and operate features you deliberately configure or invoke;
- respond to support, billing, legal, and privacy requests;
- maintain security, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and protect users and services;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce the Terms; and
- improve reliability, usability, compatibility, and documentation.
The legal basis for processing depends on the information, feature, contracting entity, and law
that applies. Common bases include performing a contract, taking steps you request before a
contract, legitimate operational and security interests, complying with law, and consent where
consent is required.
## 7. When information is disclosed
Information may be disclosed:
- to hosting, licensing, checkout, payment, account, support, and infrastructure providers that help operate the service;
- to an AI, publishing, or other provider when you connect or invoke that provider;
- to professional advisers, auditors, insurers, or authorities where reasonably necessary and legally permitted;
- to protect rights, safety, security, users, or the public, or to investigate fraud and abuse; and
- as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, restructuring, or transfer of the relevant business, subject to appropriate safeguards.
Screlio does not use project files as a general-purpose data brokerage product and does not
automatically disclose local recordings to advertising platforms.
## 8. Storage, retention, and deletion
Local projects, recordings, preferences, license credentials, and configured provider information
remain on your device until you remove them, uninstall the relevant data, reset the application,
or an operating-system process removes them. Removing the application may not remove project files
saved elsewhere on your device.
Account, purchase, license, hosting, support, and security records are kept for as long as
reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, including service delivery, recordkeeping,
fraud prevention, dispute handling, and legal compliance. No single retention period applies to
every category.
Information sent to a third-party provider is retained under that provider’s settings and policy.
Deleting a local Screlio project does not automatically delete material already uploaded to
YouTube or submitted to an AI provider.
## 9. Security
Administrative, technical, and product-level safeguards are used where appropriate to the nature
of the information. Examples include limiting the information sent for a requested function,
local processing for ordinary editing, operating-system protection for eligible YouTube tokens,
and restricted local storage for provider settings.
No storage or transmission method is completely secure. You should protect your device, account,
license key, provider credentials, source files, and backups; install trusted updates; and remove
sensitive information before sharing a project or export.
## 10. Your choices and privacy rights
You can control many data flows directly:
- choose whether to grant screen, camera, microphone, and related device permissions;
- avoid configuring an AI provider or remove its locally stored credential;
- disconnect YouTube and manage Google access through your Google account;
- delete local projects, recordings, exports, and app settings from your device;
- deactivate a license or manage an eligible plan through the account portal; and
- choose what content to send, generate, export, or publish.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion,
restriction, portability, or objection, and to appeal or complain to a privacy regulator. These
rights may be subject to exceptions. Use the
[account portal](https://account.screlio.com) so the request reaches
the entity responsible for your transaction.
## 11. Cookies and website storage
The current public marketing pages do not intentionally set advertising cookies or include a
behavioral analytics script. Hosting, security, or account systems may use strictly necessary
request information or session technologies to deliver a page, protect the service, or maintain
an account session.
If optional analytics or advertising technologies are introduced, this Policy and any required
consent controls will be updated before those technologies are used where applicable.
## 12. International processing
The website, seller, infrastructure providers, and third-party services you choose may operate in
different countries. As a result, information can be processed outside your region under
different data-protection laws. Where required, the responsible entity will rely on recognized
transfer mechanisms or other appropriate safeguards.
## 13. Children
Screlio is a professional creation tool and is not directed to people who cannot lawfully enter
the applicable purchase or software agreement. If you believe a child has provided account or
purchase information without appropriate authorization, use the account portal to contact the
responsible entity.
## 14. Changes to this Policy
This Policy may be updated as Screlio, its providers, or legal requirements change. The “Last
updated” date indicates the latest revision. Where required, material changes affecting an active
paid relationship will be communicated through a reasonable channel.
## 15. Contact
The responsible contracting entity and available privacy contact are identified on your purchase
receipt and in the
[account portal](https://account.screlio.com). Use that portal for
privacy requests, account questions, license matters, or complaints so the request can be matched
to the correct seller and records.
